Platform dashboards tell you ROAS. This tells you whether that ROAS makes money after real margins and fixed costs.

You are profitable but thin: 3.8x vs a 2.9x break-even. One auction shift from red. Fix LTV (lifecycle flows) or margin before scaling.

- Healthy D2C targets LTV:CAC of 3:1 or better
- 3-5x ROAS is typical; low-margin categories need 4x+
- Blended MER below 2x usually means fixed costs are eating the funnel

ROAS questions we hear weekly
What is a good ROAS?
There is no universal number - it depends entirely on margin. At 70% gross margin, 2x can be strongly profitable; at 20% margin you may need 5x+ just to break even. Compute your personal break-even ROAS as 100 divided by your gross margin percentage, then demand meaningfully more than it.
Why does my platform-reported ROAS look better than my bank account?
Platforms claim every conversion they can attribute and ignore your costs beyond ad spend. Sum Meta's claimed revenue plus Google's plus email-assisted sales and you will routinely exceed actual revenue by 30-60%. Judge channels on contribution margin and blended MER; use platform numbers only for inside-channel optimization.
Should I scale when ROAS looks good?
Scale against marginal numbers, not averages. If the next incremental dollar of spend still returns above your break-even, raise budgets 20% weekly. When marginal ROAS approaches break-even, redirect budget to creative testing or retention instead.
