Definition
DOI sends a confirmation link after signup and activates only confirmed addresses. It trades some list size for dramatically cleaner deliverability, verified consent and protection against bot signups poisoning sender reputation.
Why it matters
In strict-regulation markets (EU especially) DOI is compliance insurance; everywhere else it is inbox-placement insurance.
